Terrain Café is a chef-driven, garden-to-table restaurant that celebrates seasonal ingredients and the art of gathering through thoughtful menus and warm, welcoming spaces rooted in craftsmanship and heartfelt hospitality.
We are seeking a versatile and experienced Bartender to join our collaborative group dedicated to crafting memorable guest experiences through exceptional food and beverage service. This hybrid role blends craft beverage preparation- including cocktails, coffee, and specialty drinks- with outstanding table and counter service. You’ll serve a wide range of beverages- from espresso and herbal teas to local wines and seasonal cocktails- while delivering warm, knowledgeable, and polished service. The ideal candidate has strong bartending skills, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is open to learning new techniques – barista or bartender - if not already experienced.
Guest Experience & Service
Provide warm, friendly service to guests seated at the bar, counter, or nearby tables by greeting them with a smile and eye contact and ensuring they feel welcome throughout their visit.
Guide guests through seasonal food and beverage offerings with confidence and enthusiasm.
Maintain a clean, well-stocked, and organized station throughout the shift.
Ensure all services are accurate, efficient, and delivered with care.
Bartending Duties
Mix and serve cocktails, beer, wine, and specialty drinks to recipe and presentation standards.
Educate guests on our beverage offerings, including local wines, craft beers, and non-alcoholic options.
Recommend and explain rotating food and drink pairings.
Set up and break down bar service stations, including prep of garnish and batched ingredients, and cleaning bar equipment and footprint.
Monitor alcohol consumption and verify guest IDs for responsible service.
Support inventory management and stock rotation.
Barista Duties
Operate espresso machines and grinders with accuracy and care.
Prepare espresso drinks, teas, and seasonal beverages with precision and presentation in mind.
Create visually appealing drinks, including latte art.
Rotate through bartending roles (e.g., espresso machine, service bar, and counter service)
Monitor freshness of coffee, tea, and milk products.
Maintain a clean and organized prep area to support freshness and reduce waste.
Operational Excellence
Use POS for entering orders, opening/closing tabs, and processing payments.
Follow all cash handling procedures, including cash drawer reconciliation
Complete opening, closing, and side work checklists.
Uphold health, safety, and cleanliness standards at all times.
Support other FOH roles (e.g., bussing, hosting, dish) as needed and trained.
Participate in seasonal menu tastings to enhance product knowledge and service quality.
Teamwork & Culture
Communicate and collaborate with the FOH and BOH teams to ensure smooth service.
Prefer a 2-year minimum of bartending experience, with strong cocktail preparation skills.
Barista experience is a plus but not required—ideal candidates have general coffee or tea knowledge or a willingness to learn.
Friendly, guest-focused communication skills.
Ability to multitask and remain composed under pressure.
Must be physically able to:
Stand for long periods
Bend, reach, and perform repetitive tasks
Lift up to 50 lbs.
Flexible availability preferred- may include mornings, evenings, weekends, and select holidays.
